Alabama basketballâs Nick Pringle will return from suspension vs. Purdue
After missing one game due to a suspension, Alabama basketball will have Nick Pringle back Saturday against Purdue. The forward was suspended indefinitely before the Crimson Tide’s 89-65 win over Arkansas State on Monday.
According to head coach Nate Oats, Pringle has his head in the right place.
“Me and him had to have a discussion about what was important to him and how he’s going to conduct himself on and off the court,” Oats said after the game. “He a great kid, I love him. Got great energy about him, but just needed to clean a few things up. We talked through it. He’s thinking the exact mindset he needs to be to help this team win a lot of games moving forward.”
Oats announced the suspension on Friday. He said then that it was not related to any major issue, but Pringle was not upholding the standard he had set for the program.
Before the suspension, Pringle had played in all of Alabama’s games, starting in all but one. He’s one of several players Oats had said needed to play better defense, and in the case of the 6-foot-10 forward, improve at protecting the rim.
That skill will be much-needed on Saturday, when the Crimson Tide head to Toronto to face Purdue.
“It’ll be good to get Nick back against Purdue,” Oats said. “He had a great practice yesterday. He’s back where he needs to be. Anticipate him playing a decent amount of minutes, we’re gonna need our whole front line against Zach Edey, he seems to collect a lot of fouls on other teams front lines.
Alabama and Purdue are scheduled to tip off at 12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. The game will be aired on FOX.
